The Húsavík Eurovision Exhibition will host a special screening today at 14:00 of the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, one of the most iconic editions in the competition’s history. Visitors will be able to relive the night that ABBA won with “Waterloo,” a performance that went on to launch one of the most successful pop careers of all time.
The screening coincides with the visit of the cruise ship Silver Wind, which is staying overnight in the Port of Húsavík. Guests from the vessel are warmly invited to join locals and other visitors for the event, experiencing Eurovision history in the town that has embraced the contest like no other.
The Húsavík Eurovision Exhibition tells the story of Iceland’s connection to Eurovision and the global spotlight the town received after the Netflix film Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. Today’s program offers an opportunity to connect that story with the legacy of past contests, and especially the groundbreaking moment of 1974.
