The opening of the exhibition Margslunginn einfaldleiki, featuring works by painter Tryggvi Ólafsson and writer and portrait artist Thor Vilhjálmsson, was well attended at the Húsavík Museum last night.
The exhibition is presented in honour of the two artists, whose long-standing friendship and creative dialogue connected visual art and literature. Both would recently have marked milestone anniversaries, with 100 years since Thor’s birth last year and 85 years since Tryggvi’s birth.
Singer Arndís Inga Árnadóttir performed several songs together with her brother Hilmar Þór, and short addresses were given by museum director Árni Pétur and the exhibition curator Örlygur Hnefill, who is the owner of most of the artworks on display.
The exhibition is open Tuesday to Friday from 1 pm to 4 pm and Saturdays from 11 am to 4 pm.
