Plans to restart Silicon Metal Plant in Spring

PCC Iceland

The Silicon Metal Plant PCC Bakki has announced plans to start hiring workers early in the year 2021, according to an announcement from the company before the weekend. PCC temporary shut down the plant’s furnaces last August to make necessary improvements to its smoke treatment plant. Due to difficult global market conditions created by the COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided not to restart the plant after the improvements.

The company currently employs around 50 people, who are working systematically to further improve equipment and prepare for restarting.
