Mother asks community for support in daughters’ bullying case

A mother of a 16-year old girl has asked the local community for support after her daughter has faced bullying for years. After a failed suicide attempt, the mother wrote a long and emotional status update on her Facebook page to tell her daughters’ story last week and it has sparked a national conversation about bullying.

In an interview with Channel 2 this weekend, the mother said that it was important to open up the discussion about bullying in small communities around Iceland. November 8 is Anti-Bullying Day in Iceland and the organization YouMatter will host events in town to introduce their work in bullying prevention.
