No cases of Coronavirus in Northern Iceland

The number of confirmed cases of the COVID-19  coronavirus has risen to 11 in Iceland. So far, all the cases are in the Reykjavík area. The latest two cases were confirmed by Chief Epidemiologist Þórólfur Guðnason today.

The two individuals diagnosed today arrived from Verona in Italy last Saturday, where they had been skiing. As of today, over 300 people in Iceland are now in quarantine.

All but one of the 11 cases confirmed have been traced to Italy, where the infected individuals were recently skiing. One case was traced to Austria, where the person infected was recently traveling. No cases have been in Húsavík or the northern part of the country, but people are taking every precaution.
