No cases of Coronavirus in Húsavík as number of cases in Iceland rises to 182

No case of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 have been reported in Húsavík. The first case in nearby Akureyri was reported yesterday by health authorities in Iceland. The number of cases in Iceland has now risen to 182, with all but two of those cases in the capital Reykjavík and the southern region of the country.

All schools were closed in Húsavík today while teachers and administrators worked to plan the coming days and weeks. The Sports hall has been closed until further notice and the swimming pool has a restriction on number of guests allowed entry. A ban on all gatherings with over 100 people went into effect on midnight. This is the first time that a ban like that has been put into place since 1918.
