Kári Marís Guðmundsson will step down as CEO of PCC BakkiSilicon at the end of the month, according to a company announcement. He will continue to serve as a special advisor to the company. Kristín Anna Hreinsdóttir has been appointed as the new CEO.
Operations at PCC BakkiSilicon were temporarily halted on July 20 due to ongoing difficulties in the global silicon market. In its statement, the company said that extensive and demanding work has been carried out in recent months to reduce operations, assess the company’s position, and evaluate possible next steps.
“This challenging task has gone well so far and has been met with understanding from most parties. We are grateful for the constructive dialogue and cooperation with our employees, customers, suppliers, authorities, and the local community,” the company said.
